Mayhem is a graduate of the 211th Connecticut State Police K9 Training Troop earning his badge on June 11, 2020
Mayhem is a certified patrol K9 in the areas of obedience (the foundation of the K9 program), handler, protection, criminal apprehension, evidence recovery and “mantrailing” (aka tracking). Mayhem along with Officer Tory Marsden (K9 Officer and handler) completed the Connecticut State Police K9 program, which consisted of 15 weeks training, combining and building on all the above skill sets. At the conclusion of the program, the K9 team must pass standards for all of the skill sets, including a certification track (unknown to the handler and K9) which requires a minimum of a 30 minute delay crossing over at least 3 different surfaces (usually including water). After graduating, the K9 teams are required to pass NESPAC certification tests twice a year to stay current and show their proficiency.
Mayhem is currently certified as a patrol K9. He will participate in the next CSP K9 school to be cross trained for narcotics detection, which he is eagerly looking forward to.
Mayhem is Officer Marsden’s second working K9, (Marsden had a K9 during his career with the CT State Police that earned several awards), and is everything the handler wanted and asked for, specifically for the tasks anticipated in the Town of Prospect. He is a very social K9 with a great nose, excellent drive and exceptional stability. Mayhem looks forward to service the Town of Prospect for years to come in any capacity asked of him.
